This Privacy Policy explains how Kav Halacha collects, uses, shares, and protects information through the Kav Halacha mobile app and the Kav Halacha Rabbonim app.
Who We Are

Payments and Donations
Donation payments are processed using Stripe. Kav Halacha receives and stores donation records needed for receipts and administration, such as donor name, donor email, donation amount, currency, recurrence, payment status, receipt details, and payment intent identifiers.
Payment card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Kav Halacha in the app codebase.
Attachments and Media
If you upload an image or audio recording, the file is stored using cloud storage and linked to the relevant shaila message. Access to shaila attachments is intended to be limited to the registered user, authorized Rabbonim/staff, and time-limited or authenticated media access links used by the service.
Do not submit information you do not want Kav Halacha or the responding Rabbonim/staff to review as part of the shaila.
Notifications
If notifications are enabled, the apps may register a device notification token with the backend and with Firebase Cloud Messaging or Apple/Google notification services. We use notification tokens to send service-related messages such as shaila updates, replies, announcements, and selected shiur alerts. You can disable notifications in your device settings.
Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information.
We may share information with authorized Kav Halacha Rabbonim, staff, administrators, service providers, payment processors, email providers, cloud storage providers, Firebase/Google and Apple notification services, and legal or safety authorities when required or reasonably necessary.
Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain records, support halachic and operational follow-up, comply with legal/accounting obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce service rules.
Messages or attachments deleted in the apps may be removed from active display and associated storage according to backend behavior. Some records may remain in backups, logs, receipts, accounting records, or security records for a limited or legally required period.
If a Kav Halacha App user deletes their account, we delete the registration record, contact details, and notification tokens. We retain shaila text, uploaded images and audio, and rabbinic responses as historical halachic knowledge after removing the account and profile identifiers, and may use that retained material to develop, evaluate, or train future artificial intelligence systems. Personal details contained in message text, images, or audio recordings may remain. Retained shaila material is detached from the deleted registration and is no longer available through the deleted account.
Donation receipts and related accounting records may be retained when required for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or other legal obligations.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These include authentication tokens, role-based access controls, email verification for user shaila submission, protected media access, and provider-level security controls. No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your Choices
- Update notification permissions through your device settings.
- Delete eligible messages in the apps where the delete function is available.
- Initiate permanent Kav Halacha App account deletion from the Account screen in the app.
- Contact Kav Halacha to request access, correction, deletion, or other handling of your information.
- Contact Kav Halacha if you no longer want a Rabbonim account to remain active.
Some information may need to be retained for legal, tax, security, backup, or legitimate operational reasons.
Children
The apps are intended for users who are able to use the service responsibly or with appropriate parental/guardian involvement. The apps are not intended to knowingly collect information from children where parental consent is legally required. If you believe a child provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review the request.
International Use
Kav Halacha serves users internationally. Information may be processed and stored in countries other than where you live, including countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your location.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted with a new effective date. Continued use of the apps after an update means the updated policy applies.
